Story
The story
The Domaine des Ruettes was born in the 1920s when Jérôme Alnet's great-grandfather bought the house for love of wine. The estate was abandoned until the day Jérôme's father took over. For about 20 years, they worked side by side to make it evolve.
In 1998, Jérôme took over the family business. His objective: to obtain the best grapes and to watch over the balance of the vine, leaf and fruit, while defending biodiversity in order to obtain the most beautiful vintages.
Jérôme is the quiet strength of a "terrien", as he defines himself. The plant and its cycle, the need to adapt to this nature, this is what motivates him.

Location
In the heart of the Saumur Champigny appellation, the estate overlooks the Loire from the limestone plateau of Dampierre-sur-Loire.
Terroir
The soils are not very deep; the soft chalk appears at a depth of 40 centimeters, under the clay. The limestone provides just the right amount of water for growing grapes. There is also flint, which is conducive to the development of the fruit and gives the wine its minerality.
In the vineyard
Jérôme takes care of the balance of the vines dominating this house. He works it "en vert" with a severe disbudding. This technique consists in selecting the bunches that Jérôme keeps on the vine to bring the grapes to maturity in a homogeneous way. The berries are tasted before the harvest and offer a concentrated juice, with a controlled yield of 45 hl/ha.
Varietals
Cabernet franc : 100%

The Domaine des Ruettes has a beautiful ruby color with violet reflections.
The long maceration reveals powerful aromas of red fruits, like blackcurrant, and black fruits. It finishes on spicy and licorice notes with a subtle touch of undergrowth.
In the mouth, it presents a beautiful structure, warm thanks to the fruits, and a structure, carried by coated tannins.
