Saumur Puy-Notre-Dame Rouge "Ecclesia"

The story
“Ecclesia” gets its name from the Latin word of “church”. It also pays tribute to the Roman church built in Saumur Puy Notre Dame for the Virgin Mary (ecclesia beatea Mariae de Podio).
The vineyard comes from the finest terroirs of the Saumur Puy Notre Dames appellation.
The Cabernet franc vines are planted on a rise, at an altitude of 50-105 metres. They grow on a soil that consists of very hard limestone rock dating from the Jurassic period. This is responsible for the wine’s elegant aromas and beautiful structure.
Monitoring ripeness with tasting of the berries. Traditional vinification. Destemming of the grape, long maceration with soft extraction.
Maturation in vats to preserve all the aromas.
Cabernet franc : 100%

Enjoy at 16°C.
Tasting notes
Tasting notes: Deep ruby colour with dark purple reflections. This red wine has a powerful and complex nose with aromas of black fruits (cherry, blackcurrant, and blackberry), chocolate and spicy notes. Full-bodied and powerful on the palate, with silky tannins. Long finish of liquorice overtones.
Food and wine pairings
This wine goes well with fishes in sauce, roasted poultry, grilled red meats.

" La robe brillante et limpide couleur rouge foncé aux reflets violets s'ouvre sur un nez expressif et harmonieux qui associe les odeurs des fruits noirs mûrs (cassis) à celles des épices (girofle), et s'enrichit de nuances de réglisse. La bouche à l'attaque souple offre une matière charnue, beaucoup de richesse, de la générosité, de l'ampleur, ainsi que des arômes de tabac, poivre et café, qui enrobent des tanins structurés puis persistent dans une finale élégante et longue. Superbe Saumur Puy Notre Dame. " [+]
